This town lies in the southern part of Bali in Indonesia. Kuta, which is currently the favorite destination for the thousands of tourists pouring into Bali, was actually a small fishing village. Thanks to the development in the tourism sector, this fishing village has now transformed into the most visited beach resort of Bali. Right from the late 1900s, Kuta has been the destination of choice for backpackers from various parts of the world. Due to the easy access from the airport and availability of affordable, but decent accommodation, this town continues to occupy the prime spot for backpackers.

The beaches of Kuta are nothing short of paradise for surfers from various parts of the world, especially Australia. The Ngurah Rai air terminal is located at a stone’s throw from the beach at Kuta. In fact, you can get a fantastic view of the airplanes taking off and landing on the runway. The airport fence binds the beach on the south. On the north, the beach covers a vast area.

Reaching Kuta

You can get to this town either by plane, road or bus. Though the bemo and the boat are other modes of transport to get to Kuta, these are not used as frequently.

The most preferred option by tourists is to take a plane. The proximity of the town to the airport is one of the main reasons for this. When you alight at the Ngurah Rai International Airport and take a taxi from there, you will reach Kuta in a span of 15 minutes. In fact, a number of people, who don’t have a lot of baggage to carry along, prefer to take a walk from the airport to the town. There are buses from different parts of Bali that come to Kuta. This mode of travel is preferred by people on a budget holiday and would like to cover all important places in Bali.

Tourist attractions at Kuta

The main tourist spot at Kuta is the white sandy beach that it is famous for. You can indulge in a number of activities here. The Kuta beach is a favorite of people who love surfing, wakeboarding, swimming, kite flying and sun bathing. You can never experience a single dull moment in this fun filled place. If you love adventure sports, then don’t miss the slingshot!

The next most visited place in Kuta is the Hard Rock Cafe. This is the place that comes alive at night with youngsters from various cultures coming together to partake in the musical performances and the revelry. If the combination of food, drinks, good music and dance excites you, then, this is the place you should not give a miss.

The most visited spot is the Bali Bomb memorial that was built to commemorate the lives of people who were killed in the two major bomb blasts that rocked Kuta. The first bombing took place on 12th October 2002 killing over 200 people. The second bombing took place on 1st October 2005 killing over 25 people.
