When you're not lying around the pool enjoying the endless summer temperatures, you'll be writing home about the myriad features and antiques the villa is brimming with. Some things should be quintessentially un-Balinese

After 20 years of tolerating "Bali Belly", twisted ankles from "artistic" building practices and inescapable, sweltering heat, the owners decided that if you can't bring Bali to the west, then bring the best of the west to Bali.

Insect screens, (practically unknown in Bali) protect all bedroom and bathroom windows at Villa RaJa. All bedrooms are provided with both split air conditioning and fans and everything has been built to western safety design standards.

Kitchen staff are trained in international standards of hygiene and prepare food in two impeccably clean and modern kitchens (one for guests, one for kitchen staff). Of course, training is of little use when an ice block in your gin and tonic can put you on your back for a week. That is why the owners have installed a state of the art water purification plant, using colloidal silver filtration, the world's most effective water purification technology (as used on the NASA Space Shuttles).

Pure, totally safe drinking water is piped to all showers, basins etc in the house and a sophisticated secondary sewerage treatment system ensures that Villa RaJa only recycles clean, safe water back into the Balinese environment.

Services
As the name suggests, the dedicated staff at Villa Raja will make you feel like a King. Allow us to pick your party up from the airport and deliver you in air conditioned comfort to the Villa, where on arrival, our manager will welcome you with a cool drink and tour of all the Villa's facilities.

The Villa manager can help you plan your stay as well as organise everything from an in-house haircut to a car and driver, if required.

Our housekeeper, Wayan is an experienced cook and can prepare delicious meals from our in-house menu (linked to dining page). You only pay for the ingredients which staff will purchase for you fresh from the local market. The dining gazebo seats 10 people so you can host your own dinner parties - simply let Wayan know in advance.

Accomodation
Eight guests can be accommodated in the Villa's four bedrooms, including the majestic master bedroom, which features a king size bed framed by a grand house facade sourced from Java. Its waxed, black ironwood floors and massive teak beams frame softly lit kamisan paintings of the Ramayana.

The "Lilac Room" is located next door to the Master Bedroom on the top floor of the Villa, its generous ensuite and bright glass paintings make it a favourite with guests.

With its antique wall hangings and expansive views, the "Orchid Room" is on the ground floor and is equally as beautiful.

For couples travelling in a group who desire additional privacy, "The Loft" is a gorgeous bedroom in the Villa's Jineng, a traditional stand along building that overhangs the swimming pool.

Each room comes with walk-in-robe and large ensuite with bath, shower and modern European toilets.

Fun 4 Kids
Children often tire of sightseeing and shopping when on holiday but Villa RaJa is not just a luxury playground for adults. Designed by the builders responsible for Kuta's multi-million dollar "Waterbom" park, the Villa's "Shorterbom" is a 12m slide that will send them skimming into the beautiful fresh water of the 22m pool and keep them entertained for hours.

Oscar the resident tortoise is easily spotted as he paddles around the lily pond, he's used to being handled and loves a piece of bread. The giant albino catfish will also happily slurp fish food from little fingers.

If the kids are in need of some rest, plenty of children's DVDs can be found in the cool, dark comfort of the cinema room, and you can relax in the knowledge that your children are well fed and supervised by Villa staff if you wish to go out and explore on your own.

Location
Overlooking terraced rice paddies interspersed with fluttering kites, this unique and totally relaxing refuge is only 10 minutes drive from world famous surfing mecca, Echo Beach; 15 minutes from the chic restaurant and retail district of Seminyak and 40 minutes from the airport. Nestled in the traditional village of Canggu, Villa RaJa provides a genuine experience of the real Bali that you will never find in built up tourist areas.
