Villa Des Indes, named after a famous early 20th century hotel offering guests a captivating journey through time, combining nostalgic luxury with the exemplary services of personal butlers and top class chefs. The antique ‘joglo’ is the centerpiece of this magnificent property. The Joglo was originally located in Demak, Central Java, an area famous for its skilled artisans who spent their days intricately carving fine timber houses. Destined to be demolished, the owners rescued it and waited until the perfect site was available to rebuild.

Transporting each piece to Seminyak, Bali, the Joglo was transformed as the social centrepiece of what has become one of the most unique properties on the island, steeped in time honored tradition.

Designed by acclaimed international architects in close coordination with the owners, Villa Des Indes comprises four individual structures, three residences centered around the elegant Joglo, the social hub. With three separate and secluded bungalows, Villa Des Indes will provide you and your guests with a unique Bali vacation villa experience.

Set in a shady lane named Astinapura (or ‘throne of the gods’) directly off Jalan Laksmana and a stone’s throw from the Indian Ocean, Villa Des Indes offers complete privacy, keeping the outside world at a discreet distance. You can choose to experience the high living of Seminyak with its elegant restaurants, bars and designer shopping areas or relax in style and luxury in the villa.

Guests enter Villa Des Indes through a large antique Chinese wooden door to be met by a personal butler who will cater for your every need. Fully staffed in five star style, stepping over the threshold you will enter a world of unsurpassed Asian luxury.

Private butlers, waiting staff and a resident chef ensure every need is met whilst maintaining privacy and making you feel like you’ve been transported to a gentler, more civilized era.

The Joglo
The skilled artisans of Demak in Central Java cleverly carved Joglo houses using traditional tongue and groove techniques, forgoing any use of nails in the design. Finely carved, the Joglo features finely carved pillars fluted with delicate floral patterns and symmetrical intricate layers of mandala style artwork in the ceiling.

The Joglo is a peaceful centerpiece, an open-air living area that appears to be floating on water, surrounded by a 21-meter lagoon swimming pool that curves amidst the orchids and frangipanis. Complete with a table for fine dining set with antique cutlery and crockery, a relaxing lounge with plantation chairs in which you can while the evening away and comfortable corners to curl up in with an interesting book, the joglo typifies the best in Bali luxury villa rental.

The Villa Des Indes Residence

The Villa Des Indes Private Residence is made up of two colonial individual villas, Villa Des Indes I and II which can be rented out as a 2, 3 or 5 bedroom residence. A small gangway and private entrances separate the two colonial villas.

Villa Des Indes I: 3 bedroom

Within Villa Des Indes 1 there are three separate early 20th century style bungalows with oversize antique Balinese beds, en-suite grand bathrooms and tropical outdoor showers.
The Joglo is a peaceful centerpiece, an open-air living area that appears to be floating on water, surrounded by a 21-meter lagoon swimming pool that curves amidst the orchids and frangipanis.
Set off to the left side of the Joglo is a bar area, a perfect spot for an afternoon snack.
You will awake on Egyptian cotton sheets surrounded by one of Indonesia’s finest collection of antiques, wash in a pedestal washbasin or soak in a scented flower bath under an outdoor Indonesian bale.
Two of the bungalows have wide verandahs and den-libraries full of interesting books, attached to the bedrooms. The third bungalow has an upper open pavilion for sunset cocktails with adjacent butler's pantry and guest toilet. The open pavilion houses a traditional Javanese day bed and an old Chinese rocking chair, a perfect shady area to disappear into with a book. Complete with a kitchenette/butler’s pantry, this self-contained pavilion is perfect for friends sharing the residence.

Villa Des Indes II: 2 bedroom

Within Villa Des Indes II there is a two bedroom pavilion, interior décor and antiques in the same colonial style. Bathrooms house pedestal washbasins and tropical outdoor showers. The Joglo within this residence is an authentic Limasan Joglo from the Jogyakarta region of Java.
An outdoor relaxation bale is set within the Villa’s lush tropical garden and fringes the private swimming pool of the Villa, a perfect oasis of relaxation.
